5th Grade Family Circle
Because together we transform Jewish wisdom into a joyful way of life.
We're building an intentional cohort of families around these shared goals:
This Family Circle includes these experiences:
Shabbat Circle (monthly for 5th Graders and their families): We’ll gather as a family of families for a Friday night festive meal, a reflective Saturday morning service, or a sweet Havdalah ritual at each other’s homes. This will be a great way to join as a community, include younger siblings and parents, and explore your family’s relationship with Shabbat.
Justice Circle (one Wednesday a month for 5th graders, 3:45-5:15p, with Rabbi Bethie): Through hands-on experiences and discussions, we'll investigate how Jewish wisdom can help us respond to today's big ethical questions: How can we protect future generations from the impacts of climate change? How should we welcome and support immigrants? How could we feed those who are hungry in our community? We’ll also dedicate about 15 mins each meeting to an introduction to the Hebrew alphabet.
Hebrew Circle (OPTIONAL, weekly on the Wednesdays when the Justice Circle doesn’t meet, 3:45-4:45p, with Rabbi Bethie): We’ll explore the Hebrew alphabet, Jewish holy days, Torah stories, core blessings and prayers, and other topics of interest to the students. This is a good option for students and families looking for a weekly touch point.
